Gardening Jobs for September

Our Gardening Group met on Wednesday 23 September 2026 for a quick check up on the jobs that need to be completed during September.

We started with a video that showed how grocery scraps can be turned into new plants. Of particular interest was the feature on spring onions, pomegranates and passion fruit. One of the members has been doing this with tomatoes for many years! It was then time to tackle the difficult topic of pruning hydrangeas.

We then had an item from Alan Titchmarsh listing the jobs to be done in September which included a practical demonstration on planting a bulb lasagne. There were other tips and advice from Carol Klein, Frances Tophill, and Eroll Reuben Fernandes.

After a break for teas and coffees we had a seed exchange with the seeds being provided by our own members. We finished with a table of what had grown well in 2026, and what had been a wipeout.

Our next session will be on 28 October 2026 at 2:00pm.
