Our Creative Writers were hard at work again on Wednesday 16 September 2026 to enjoy some more stories. With much news on the day about the dangers of Artificial Intelligence, there was a wide range of topics tackled under the heading “Into/Out of Darkness”.
We started with a poem about lightning and its creative properties, and that led to another poem about two red lights suddenly appearing on a foggy night on a motorway. We were then looking at the threat to humanity coming not so much from AI as from people’s reliance and acceptance of AI.
On a ‘lighter’ note, we were then in a fairground for the revenge of a ride operator on a group of young hooligans who assumed that the Ghost Train ride was safe. It was not safe and the hooligans have not been seen since. We had another story of a drug dealer lamenting the loss of a client, and then we moved on to a wife who successively marries rich husbands who all seem to die!
We were then off to memories of Poland before the Second World War, and that was followed by a poem on the 15:1 system – counting the words on each line dealing with the passing of the parents of a child and how it affects the child’s situation. We were able to finish on a brighter note with the appreciation of a Maple Tree outside a bedroom window, and the connection between ‘baristas’ and the law.
Our next session is scheduled for 07 October 2026 at 10:00am and will look towards the light as well as the dark.
