Our Creative Writing Group met on Wednesday 18 February 2026 to share some unexpected outcomes in their stories along the themes set at their previous session.

We had an unexpected outcome when a traditional Indian wedding night turns into an event that the couple and their parents will never forget. What happened, you ask? You will never know if you were not there to join them on their first adventure as a married couple!

We had a recently divorced man drowning his sorrows in an East End pub. The Landlord decides he has had enough to drink and sends him on his way. Outside he finds a young girl being harassed by three young men. He comes to her aid and the men sneak off into the night. He offers to call the police but she insists the police are not involved. She asserts that she could have taken all three of them. We will find out more next time!

We had a man who following the death of a close relative was now on his own. He had received a wooden box from his deceased uncle’s solicitor containing two envelopes and a locket. In the envelopes there is a story about his origin that he had never heard before, concerning a bombing raid in the East End of London during the Second World War. He was shocked to the core.

We had the lyrics to a sad song in French and in English that concluded that ‘Love revolves around misfortune’.

We had a story about a lady who was scammed by social media into sending a young man significant sums of money. Despite the admonishment of her friends, she was still hoping to meet him as she found him so interesting. We then moved on to an audition for places in a theatre company that was not going too well until a young man, by the name of Richard Burton, took to the stage to do his piece, and the whole atmosphere of the occasion changed.

We closed with a story of how a friendship between two girls at school developed and managed to continue for 65 years despite a series of ups and downs. The friendship started with a lost front door key, and then spread through to the parents of both children. We closed with a continuation of a story with our protagonists waking in a hospital ward and discovering that he had been unconscious for a month and the hospital is a long way from where he thought he was. Can his wife come and rescue him? We will find out next time.
