Our Gardening Group met on Wednesday 28 January 2026 for an update on the tasks that can be carried out at this time of year.

As well as the usual cleaning chores, there was discussion on what can be added to the garden at this time of year, In particular we had a long discussion on the sources of bare root plants, and on the difficulties of buying plants on the internet that turn out to be a disappointment. To avoid disappointment, one method is to purchase seed from a reliable supplier.

In addition to discussions about tomatoes, we had a demonstration of the best way to sow marigold seeds, and this was accompanied by a sharing of marigold seeds collected at the end of last autumn.
