Cars and Ghosts in Creative Writing

Our Creative Writing Group met on Wednesday 21 January 2026 to continue with their previous themes of Dicing With Death, Looking Forward to a New Year and Strange Things Left in a Hotel Room.

We started with some poems describing waking to a snowy morning and the progression of generations of all growing things. We then moved to a story about the keys to a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud being discovered in the drawer of a bedside cabinet, the car being a gift from a former admirer.

We then had the thoughts of a dog whose owners have moved from the countryside to the city, and that was followed by a ghost being seen dancing to a traditional Irish melody on the stairs in an old family home. We then had a charming story about a young girl who is academically successful and joins the navy before finding true love with an Italian restaurateur.

We finished we a further episode of a couple who take part in a television programme only to get involved in a murder enquiry following taking part in the programme.

Our Creative Writing Group’s next session will be on 04 February 2026 at 10:00am and writers are invited to describe a moment that brought a lump to their throat!
