On Wednesday 17 December 2025 we had another Wonderful Winter Social. The event was somewhat over-subscribed for the allowed capacity, but all those managing to get tickets seemed to have a most enjoyable time.

We started with a Prosecco, but for those driving there was a selection of juices. We then had a wonderful selection of sandwiches, treats and snacks, and that was followed by a range of desserts – some more healthy than others. There were also teas and coffees to choice. Our thanks go to our catering team for the excellent selection and the professional service!

After we had eaten and had our refreshment, we enjoyed a funny and entertaining pantomime featuring a damsel in distress, a dragon, a knight, a selection of towns people, and a gypsy cabaret! Our thanks go to the Playreading Group for the entertainment!

We finished with a selection of Christmas music performed by a variety of musicians and singers.

All told, it was a most enjoyable event, and it set the scene for our u3a in the coming year!
