Successful Launch of Show and Tell

At the first meeting of the new Show and Tell group, six members presented items, artworks and literary contributions on the theme of “Water”.

Marian’ spoke on the Scottish river Spey, known for its whisky distilleries and salmon fishing. Pam showed her oil painting of Weymouth harbour, inspired by a John Masefield poem. Rosemary followed with her own poem linked to a dark Casper David-Friedrich’s seascape. With her Scottish background, Marsaili naturally investigated Highland Spring water and was deeply concerned by the quantity of nano-plastics.

After a brief refreshment break, Gill and Robert Bernard – the session organisers – delivered their contributions based on The Water Babies and Swallows and Amazons respectively. Lively discussions followed each presentation.

After discussion, the group settled on “Fire” as the theme for the next meeting on the 12th November, at 10am.
