Thirteen of our Creative Writers met on Wednesday 20 August 2025 to share their latest contributions, and to update their proposed offerings for the Creativity Event on 26 November 2025.

We heard a letter to an Agony Aunt concerning a sister that had come to lunch bringing a much younger boyfriend. The reply advised her to get out of her rut and ask if he had any friends the Agony Aunt could meet! Another member changed the tone with a poignant piece about the treatment of a child soldier’s body among the dead after a battle.

We then had a poem about the commonality of thoughts through the ages, followed by a sinister little tale titled “Where there is a Will There is a Way”, about someone disposing of their relatives in order to secure an inheritance. We had another piece written on ability with languages, and how that stood them in good stead when bartering overseas.

We then had a recollection based on a visit to the Twin Towers in New York a year after the events of 2001 and closed with the final part of travels in the 1970s coming back from South East Asia via Moscow.
