Creative Writers Travel the World

Our Creative Writers met for their session on Wednesday 06 August 2025, and in the process of a couple of hours, they seem to have travelled the world.

We started with a story set in the UK and Dharamshala (the home of the Dallai Lama in India). We then moved to Chile for a story about the celebration of Christmas in mid-summer during political troubles in the country. That was followed by an uncomfortable story set north of the border with a man-eating python. We were then off to the seaside for a story about a polymath who has run out of funds but enjoys cliff-top walks; peril awaits when the narrator needs a walking stick to navigate the route.

Next we were in London and travelling back home after the theatre when a ghostly train arrives at the platform. A family member boards the train and has never been seen again. Then we were off to the beaches of India for an April Fool story about detecting gold on the seashore. From India is was back to the UK and Foulness for a tale of how to avoid the expense of divorce. We next traversed the country to the South West for a story about an estate agent who purchased a bungalow that turned out to have been built on top of a Roman villa. When the archaeologists moved in, little was left of the bungalow and the garden was a series of trenches.

Our next meeting will be on 20 August 2025 at 10:00am when one of the topics will be “Problems Caused by Language”.
